FAQs

What services does Terry Daly provide?

Terry explains Daly's Law in detail to managers, coaches and players - and then helps implement it in practice.

Terry can get individual players who are 'off form' into top form again in one week by (a) explaining Daly's Law to the player involved and (b) by practising it with the player on a one to one basis, prior to the player using it for himself in normal team training and competitive games.

Terry is also available to the media as ambassador for Daly's Law and as an expert football analyst using the Daly's Law Analysis programme.

How does Daly's Law Coaching compare to conventional soccer coaching?

Daly's Law Coaching is 'bigger' than conventional soccer coaching because it defines weight as a vertical force in the movement of a ball, whereas conventional soccer coaching confuses weight and horizontal pace as being one and the same thing, namely horizontal pace.  Daly's Law Coaching's definition of weight as a vertical force allows it to coach players to use weight to control the horizontal pace of the ball in flight when they pass, cross, shoot, run with the ball, etc.  Conventional soccer coaching does not do this because it does not define weight correctly.

How easy is it to implement Daly's Law Coaching in practice?

Very easy.  Soccer is a simple game - and that is why Daly's Law Coaching uses small, medium and large sided practice games as the contexts for all of its coaching.  We keep the coaching context 'real' all of the time.  The Daly's Law Warm-ups are the way we teach Daly's Law in practice to players, prior to using Daly's Law Starts in 'real' small, medium and large sided practice games immediately after the Daly's Law Warm-ups.  These 'street' soccer games are also used to teach continuation plays, finishing plays, defensive play and transition play.

What about using Daly's Law Coaching with elite professional players?

Daly's Law is something they won't have been coached before but experience shows that such players accept the benefits of Daly's Law immediately - particularly when they see the results in practice.  Every professional player likes to feel 'on form'.  Daly's Law Coaching gives elite professional players that feeling of individual and collective confidence instantly and maintains it continuously.  ' Top performance, all the time,' is how one expert sports scientist at the National University of Ireland (NUIG) summed up Daly's Law Coaching.

Why use 'street' soccer games to coach Daly's Law?

Coaching in context is a central aspect of Daly's Law Coaching.  Small, medium and large sided games provide a full range of 'real game' contexts in which to coach Daly's Law.  Such games have immediate credibility with all players and they provide continuous coaching opportunities to coach all of the Daly's Law Starts, continuation plays and finishing plays in the Daly's Law Coaching programme - as well as top performance defensive play and transition play also.

What are the differences between small, medium and large sided games?

Complexity. More players means more complexity.  The same Daly's Law principles and Daly's Law Starts apply in all games.  We move from simple to complex in moving from small through medium to large sided games.

How soon should I see the effects of Daly's Law Coaching?

Immediately, in terms of individual, group and whole team player performance outcomes.

I am a conventional soccer coach, with an A' licence badge.  How can Daly's Law Coaching  benefit me?

Daly's Law Coaching will enable you to add major extra dimensions to your coaching in terms of space and time, two critical elements in soccer player performance.   Daly's Law Coaching's unique insight into weight as a vertical force that can be used to balance the horizontal force of the ball in every game situation allows you to coach your players to do just this.  Conventional coaching's misunderstanding of weight and horizontal pace as being one and the same, namely horizontal pace, prevents you from doing this.  Daly's Law Coaching will free you, once you accept that weight is vertical, not horizontal.  It couldn't be easier - and it works, first time and every time.

How important is Daly's Law Analysis?

It is of critical importance.  You can't assess the progress of Daly's Law Coaching without it.  It is imperative that you use Daly's Law Analysis to evaluate your players on a continuing basis - and that you get your players to use DLA for themselves in analysing their own play, their team mates' play and their opponents' play.  The page on Daly's Law Analysis gives you more details.
